Oh no!The bacillus cereus bacteria in Dr Forland's lab multiply and multiply! They are just getting more and more and more every minute!Forland is getting really nervous. He knows that the number of these little guys increases exponentially with time. Exponentially, this means: VERY FAST. In fact, it's getting faster all the time! It all began so well: At midnight, Dr Forland put this little colony consisting of 2400 aggressive and hungy bacteria into a Petri dish. Then he went home to get some sleep. A Petri dish is a small glass container filled with delicious nutrient. At least the bacteria think it's delicious, and they live and multiply happily in such a container. And now it's the next morning, and Forland realizes, for the first time: the number of bacteria DOUBLES every 2.1 hours! |
