Media technology

Computer technology and Internet/WWW has gradually changed how we both in private and as professionals receive and use information, entertainment and services. We read papers on the net, watch TV and film, play and use the net-bank. This evolution is in constant growth as the user demands increases and the industry develops solutions.

Media technology is an academic area focusing on the technological aspect in this development. Media technology contributes to both major changes in society and everyday life. Social, economical and juridical aspects are hence important subjects in media tech.

Our section provides study programmes both on bachelor and master levels. Some are aimed towards the technological aspects, whilst others are focused on using the technology to produce digital media and services. Mutual to all studies is a theoretical approach to the nature of media technology in addition to practical experience and hands on use of technical equipment and solutions.

We are actively involved in research and development. Mainly focused on two areas; electronic publishing and picture and video processing. In the first area we are looking at new ways to produce, distribute and exchange information, and for the latter the paramount subject is developing computer tools so analyze digital images and video for simplifying the use of pictures and video in media tech solutions.
