Svein-Erik Måsøy was born in Halden, Norway in 1975. He received his MSc degree in applied mechanics, thermo- and fluid dynamics from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in 1999. In 2004 he received the PhD title of Dr. Ing. with the thesis title "Estimation and correction of aberration in medical ultrasound imaging".

Ongoing research in medical ultrasound imaging
  • Aberration estimation and correction
  • Reverberation cancellation
  • Nonlinear ultrasound propagation
  • Ultrasound contrast detection methods
  • Ultrasound tissue characterization methods

    The simulation package Abersim

This simulation package has been used to generate all the results presented in my thesis work. It is composed of a set of Matlab functions. The basic setup and propagation method is described in the articles and thesis above. The package has been developed by a number of persons over the last 4 years. It is free to use.
Download the abersim-2.5-1 package, and unzip the file to a catalog of choise. Run the abersim_install and the startup file, and the functions can be used.
For the time being, there only exist a small user manual in Norwegian in the doc folder. With time, a small english manual will be created.
All the basic functions are located in the functions folder. Some examples of simulation programs are given in the examples folder.
