The spring semester 2007 I teach:

• STK 4140 - Experimental Design.

General professional interests

• Linear model theory; more generally: the theory behind methods that have proved to be of practical importance.
• Methodological solutions like restricted maximum likelihood, that have turned out to be good without having been arrived at through general theory. Problem areas like multiple testing and model selection where no canonical solution is offered by general theory.
• The interface between statistics and a variety of other areas like chemometry, neural nets, machine learning theory, complexity theory, quantum theory and stochastical analysis.

Specific research interests

• The choice of conditioning in statistical models.
• Regression methods and classification methods for cases with a large number of explanatory variables (classification variables).
• The use of symmetry considerations in statistics.
• The statistical interpretation of quantum theory.
