Workshop
on papers for Special Issue of Science Studies.
Theme:
"Socio-technical Dynamics in the Free/Libre Open Source Software
(FLOSS) Social World"
Venue: Center
for Activity Theory and Developmental Work Research, University of
Helsinki, Finland
Start: Friday afternoon, January 19. at
15.30.
The purpose of this workshop is to work with the first
round accepted manuscripts for the special issue of Science Studies,
see Call For Papers: http://www.sciencestudies.fi/v20n2CFP
The idea is to work with the manuscripts, to get them as good as possible prior to submissions to the external referees of Science Studies. We will circulate manuscripts in advance. The authors will make small introductions, to briefly present the paper, and problems/challenges in writing it. We will then leave plenty of room to discussion and feedback of each paper.

In order to efficiently use the limited time we have at Helsinki, Lars and I thought we'll have make some semi-structured arrangement about peer-review and commentators at the workshop. This can also reduce the workload of participants as some of you might be very busy recently and unable to finish reading all the papers.
Each paper will have 3 commentators. One will be me or Lars, one will be one of the editors from Science Studies, and the other will be one of the fellow participants.
Lars and I assign each participant one paper to review and to comment at the workshop based on our best knowledge of the contents of the papers and the participants' research interests. We group the participants to comment each other's papers. Here's the 4 groups we come up with:
Mark
Zune <-> Anita Chan (Lars)
Viktor Binzberger <-> Juha
Siltala (Lars)
Francesco Rullani <-> Johan Soderberg
(Yuwei)
Stephanie Freeman <-> Edgar Whitley (Yuwei)
Lars and I will comment papers in each two groups we take care of.
The time allocation of each slot would be:
