News

I have been invited to give a seminar in the UNU-MERIT research seminar series. It will take place in the UNU-MERIT premises in Maastricht, Netherlands on 17 April 2008.

Joseph Alois Schumpeter was born in the Czech Republic. I have made a pilgrimage to his birth house in Třešť during the summer. Schumpeter’s family apparently lived in this small Moravian town for centuries, but he had spent there only a couple of years as a small baby before his mother moved with him to Vienna. Schumpeter could have been perhaps my most famous countrymen in social science, at least in economics, if the wheel of history had turned a different way. Look at my picture in front of his birthplace.

From August 2007 to July 2008, I am on sabbatical at the Centre for Advanced Study (CAS) at the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters. Seminars on "Understanding Innovation" are on Tuesdays, 13.15-15.00.
