My main research interests include:
- Numerical methods for quantum mechanics, in particular
large-scale diagonalization of quantum dot Hamiltonians
and methods for evolving the wave function
- Analysis of Hermite function expansions and other special functions
- Topological solitons; In particular Skyrmions
- Geometric discretizations of PDEs
The list of publications is fairly short at the time:
- Simen Kvaal, Morten Hjorth-Jensen, and Halvor Møll Nilsen: Effective
interactions, large-scale diagonalization,
and one-dimensional quantum dots. Physical Review B 76
085421 (2007) Click here.
- Simen Kvaal, A Critical Study of the Finite Difference
and Finite Element Methods for the
Time Dependent Schrödinger Equation, Master Thesis (2004) Click here to get some really old and dusty pages.
