Touching worlds: Gender, sexuality and ethnicity in processes of knowing Doctoral project started in September 2002 I study processes of knowing, particularly in cultural research and other cultural practices, where gender, sexuality and/or ethnicity are focused. I see processes of knowing as performative, and study their reality effects, giving special attention to transformative effects. A particular interest is in reality effects playing out in tactile ways of working, based in perception and affectivity. A recurrent question is how otherness gets made. The research is based in empirical study and the materials consists of conversations, participation in seminars, written and visual publications and representations. Theoretically and methodologically the project relies on different traditions, in particular versions of poststructuralism and deconstruction in feminist and postcolonial research, as well as in science studies, but also work on bodies, affectivity and perception.
