Dombås
Dombås is the geomagnetic observatory for the southern part of Norway. It is named after the village Dombås in Dovre municipality. The observatory was founded in 1916. Until 1930, however, only geomagnetic variations were recorded, and not until 1951 it was established as a real observatory providing reliable annual mean values of the magnetic field.
The observatory is operated jointly with the University of Bergen.
