Petroleum Geoscience is one of five research groups at the Department of Earth Science, University of Bergen.
The main focus is studying architecture and properties of sedimentary rocks by
- Enhancing the seismic quality (resolution and penetration) and increase possibilities for rock-characterisation.
- Integration of logdata and seismic.
- Studies of processes for creation of basin, deposition of sediments and diagenesis, and their relation to creation, migration and accumulation of hydrocarbons.
- Basin-modelling.
The group has an integrated, complimentary collaboration with Centre for Integrated Petroleum Research (CIPR) where our focus is on problems related to regional-, basin- and crust-scale, while CIPR focus on the reservoir-scale.
