Associate Professor (Førsteamanuensis), Information Systems, Institutt for Informatikk, Universitetet i Oslo (IFI/UiO)
Professor II (20%), Institute for Form, Theory and History, Oslo:School:of Architecture and Design (AHO), see http://www.aho.no/

Research interests: My research interests can be described in four interrelated areas:

  • Theory: Social theory approaches to design and use of information systems and information and communication technologies in large technical systems; conceptualizing standardization of practices (work practices) and systems (technical design and practices) in balance with local autonomy, flexibility and participation
  • Design: design research, understanding design practices and processes; alternative design strategies including participatory design; computer-supported collaborative work; potential uses of mobile technologies; interactive media and web design
  • Health informatics: design and use of electronic patient records; clinical information systems and health management information systems, mobile technologies in medical education and clinical practice; health information systems in developing countries
  • Methods: developing qualitative research methods (from social theory perspectives) for IS/IT design and for understanding work practices and social interactions through ethnographic research.
