Project description:
Assessment of non-HIV sexually transmitted diseases in pregnant women in Gaborone, Botswana. This is a follow up of a NUFU project on the prevalence of non-HIV STDs in women in Botswana conducted in 1997-8. The current approach is a laboratory based assessment of the various subtypes of STD in pregnant women, including a cost estimate of different public health management programs for STDs in the target population. It will give some health exconomic inputs into effective programs to combat STDs in a High HIV prevalence area in a middle income country

Botswana
