There are two obligatory courses, each 6 ECTS:
In addition, Molde University College offers the following courses at irregular intervals. These courses reflect the competence of the faculty. Courses will be run only when demanded, that is, when we have students who need them.
These courses will normally be offered in one out of two ways
- Intensive courses over one or two weeks, possibly with students from
other universities
- As reading courses
The Doctoral Committee will always have the possibility to accept larger
reading courses if that suits your special interests. You (in cooperation
with your supervisor) will have to present a list of suggested courses to
the Doctoral Committee. The list must be a mix of master level and doctoral
level courses, and a mix of local and otherwise offered courses. The list
will take into account both the suggested topic for your thesis and your
background. For example (see below), if you do not have a solid background
in logistics, you will on one hand need a large collection of courses in
logistics, on the other hand, you will already have a solid background in
some related subject that will be beneficial for your thesis. If you do not
have a background in logistics, the Doctoral Committee may require that you
take courses without credit in order to bring you to an acceptable level for
starting on a doctoral study.
The collection of courses will depend on your background. The following
is a guideline:
- If you have a master-degree in logistics from Molde University
College, your general background in logistics will certainly be
sufficient. In this case you will possibly pick courses you have not
already taken from the master-program according to your interests
and needs.
- If you have a background from some other institution where logistics
is a major part of your background, you may have to include some courses
from the master-program to broaden your general background in logistics.
In addition, you may of course take master courses based on interests
and needs.
- If you have a different background, you will necessarily have to
take a larger collection of courses from the master-program.
You may consult the study plan for the master program to find courses that may fit you.
