Preface This is the first in a series of annual reports on research and publications by the academic staff of the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration. The report is organized by departments, with each department providing some background information on its research activities, followed by lists of publications and unpublished research reports. The aim of the publication is to provide better and more systematic information to the outside world about one of the two main activities of the School - the other being of course teaching. The present report covers publications which appeared in 1994. Thus, it is a snapshot of our activities. A more well-rounded picture of our research will gradually emerge as more reports come out in the future. But the first report alone will probably convey the impression that although the School is a specialized university institution, the range of its activities is a very broad one. Many readers will probably be concerned only with that part of our research activities which corresponds to their own special field. Others will take a broader interest in the activities of the School. We hope that both groups of readers will find something to their interest.
