This document describes how to set the environment variables for Fluent on personal computers. By following the recipe on this side the user does not have to change the license file for fluent each year anymore. Contributions by Are J. Simonsen (NTNU) and Rune Engeskaug (SINTEF).
The method for setting the environment variables for Fluent described below is tested on Win 2000/XP.
The figures below are from Win 2000 and they look a little bit different in Win XP (but, still easy recognizable).
1. Go to start meny -> "Settings" and double click the "control panel" thumbnail.

2. In the control panel folder double clik the "System" thumbnail and the "System Properties" menu will appear.

3. In the system properties menu choose "Advanced", and then "Environment Variables" and set the parameters as showen in the next figure (usually the variable FLUENT_INC is set by the fluent program itself, so you only have to set the LM_LICENSE_FILE variable).

4. To be sure that Fluent will find the new variables and not read the old license file and therebye not work (if you, of course, have an old Fluent license installed), remove the old license file in the directory C:\Fluent.Inc\license before starting Fluent.
