Quality and Performance Oriented Management

Outstanding performance is seen as the key to long-term success for any organization, be it private or public. Based on the main concepts from quality management, strategic management, and organizational development and change, this course presents a holistic approach to managing performance.

Insight into theoretical concepts are balanced against practical skills in applying tools and techniques. Such skills are developed through utilizing theory in a comprehensive case study of the company Atlantic Freight Lines. This case study runs through the entire semester and corresponds with models presented in lectures.

Although this course is part of a study program that mainly targets manufacturing industries, the performance management theories covered are general and also applicable to service industries as well as public sector organizations.

The course is given in English. This means that all material is in English. If there are only participants that master Norwegian in the class, the verbal language used will be Norwegian, otherwise English.
