About us

From year 2000 the Faculty of Science and Engineering has been focusing on micro-technology, as a response to industrial demand in our region.

Our mission is to become Norway’s leading centre within microsystem technology.

IMST has been growing steadily since 2002 as part of Faculty of Engineering and Science.

Norways first 3-year bachelor level course in microsystem technology was started in 2002.

Norways first master course in microsystem technology was started in 2005 with many international students as well as students coming with a Norwegian bachelor degree.

IMST has a team of more than 40 experts today including academic staff, technical staff and doctor students.  We are devoted both to research, innovation and education.

Our research activity is to advance the state-of-the-art in MEMS and Microsystems technologies. Our education aim is to offer educational opportunities at all levels of study (Bachelor, Master, Doctor) through a series of semester courses, short courses, and practical research related training activities.
