  4. Conference planning, logistics, administration and implementation

Flexible study programmes
Society is constantly changing and so does our need for new competence. Old skills need to be updated and new ones have to be learned. In many ways, we can say that lifelong learning is now a reality.

In order to make education more accessible, an increasing number of the programmes at Lillehammer University College are developed as flexible, module-based units. These combine seminars held at the College with distance education based on printed materials, video and the use of modern technology. The Internet is increasingly being used for the delivery of course content, and for communication between the students, and between student and tutor.

Video production
The Centre for Continuing Education has its own video production unit. The video team has broad experience in:

  • production
  • directing
  • graphics
  • scenography
  • music composition
  • sound and image technology
  • camera/editing

Most of our production is for flexible study programmes, both for Lillehammer University College and for other educational institutions. These videos vary from straightforward lectures with one lecturer in the studio, to more complicated fictional and documentary productions.

The technicians are experienced in the compression and streaming of video, allowing us to combine video production with interactive media systems, web-based learning and DVD production.

The video production unit also produces information videos in collaboration with Norwegian and international organisations.

Multimedia and the Internet
The Centre for Continuing Education has many years of experience in the development and production of interactive multimedia and web-based systems for education, information and entertainment. When designing new products, emphasis is placed on the extensive and appropriate use of images and video.

The designers and technicians work in close collaboration with the video unit to produce flexible study programmes combining video production with interactive media and web-based systems.

Conferences
The Centre for Continuing Education arranges between 5 and 8
national and international conferences each year. These range from small seminars to congresses with up to 500 delegates.

Our role involves:

  • financial management
  • assisting in programme development
  • production of printed material
  • marketing
  • registration of delegates
  • secretariat duties during the conference
  • evaluation
  • publishing the conference report

Conferences are arranged mainly on campus, but we also arrange conferences at suitable venues in the Lillehammer area, elsewhere in Norway and abroad.
