A watery success
THE WATER-METHOD MAN/ Ricky Taylor is focusing his PhD on the importance of groundwater to maintain the ecology of the South African St. Lucia nature reserve, which forms part of Maputaland. “The sand dunes absorb the rainwater and it leaks into the groundwater. Through this process, the area can remain viable even after years of drought,” he says. Taylor has his daily work at the KwaZulu-Natal Wildlife. “All the scientists involved in the project have different backgrounds. It is very enriching.”
