ObjectivesThe course gives a broad and basic introduction to media studies. It also gives an introduction to how the Norwegian mass media are organized and how they operate.
ContentsThe course will give an introduction to models of communication and perspectives on sender organisation, media texts and the audience in the process of mass communication. It will give an understanding of where media studies are situated both as a part of the humanistic sciences and social sciences. The course will also give an understanding of the Norwegian media system.
Subject OverlapIn combination with the completed exam in MEVI 100, a successful exam in the MEVI 110 will only result in 3 ECTS.
Teaching MethodsPrimarily in the form of lectures.
Assessment / Examination Format4 hours written school exam (in English or
Norwegian).
