2006-2007 / Course descriptions / IE201602 Multimedia digital signal processing
Today we use DSP (or Digital signal processing) in a large number of multimedia devices such as speech maschines, equalizer, compact disk (CD), music synthesis, modems, MPEG, sound and video, mobile phones, noise canceling, speech recognition and so on.This course is intended to give the students the necessary background to understand modern DSP systems. The course is founded on exstensive use of Matlab DSP toolbox and DSP Blockset for the simulation of DSP systems.
1. Introduction:DSP development, applictions2. Digitalization:Sampling, oversampling2. System theory:Difference equations, folding, digital filters etc, transfer functions, Z-transformation, stability.3. Filter design:FIR; different technices. IIR; bilinear transformation, the structure of filtering.4. Multirate systems:Disimation, interpolation5. Frequency analyses:DFT, FFT, DCT, specter.6. Noise signal:Autocorrelation, crosscorrelation, white noise.7. Adaptive filters:Linear predictiv coding (LPC).8. Speech coding:DM, ADPCM, LPC-10, RELP, CELP.9. Picture manipulation:Histogram manipulation, mask processing.
