Introduction to GIS or equivalent after application.

After completed course the student should :

• Know the most common principles of map design.
• Understand how GIS, through the use of program applications, is used for visual communication to contribute to better understanding of the complexity of the world .
• Know how to use GIS for analysing, queries and visualisation to obtain usefull information for decision-making processes.
• Understand how GIS can be use to model incidents, for resource management and to make alternative scenarios for developement.

Lectures, lab exercises, group- and invidual work.

Portofolio with a given number of exercises delivered and approved within a fixed date.

3 hour written examination.
