General university college entrance requirements
This study programme offers students a basic introduction to economics, business administration, individual and organisational behaviour, marketing; it also includes method courses in mathematics and statistics (optional).
The programme has the following three objectives:
1. To provide competence for both private and public workplaces.
2. To provide an additional competence in economics and administration for workers in a variety of commercial ventures and for students who already have a professional education background, for example in engineering, marine biology, nursing, who wish to expand their expertise in business management.
3. To provide the basis for continuing education in the area of business administration. After completing this programme, a student can apply for the second year course in Aalesund University College's programme in Export Marketing or Business Administration, or continue his/her education at other universities in Norway and abroad.
Teaching is mainly done through lecturing, group work, and individual (directed) exercises. There are required submissions in specific courses, as well as case problems to be solved and presented in the classroom. Many of the topics will require using PC equipment.
Regular working patterns are expected for each semester regarding class assignments. Students need to observe dates for required submissions and tests each semester.
The course covers two semesters over one academic year. This study programme is similar to the first year of the Export Marketing programme. As can be seen in the course description, students receive an introduction to topics in economics, business administration, organizational behaviour and marketing.
After completing this study programme, the students can apply to the second year Export Marketing or Business Administration programme.
