Minimum college entrance requirements with additional 3MX/3MN ( 3 years of Mathematics in upper secondary school)
Provide the students with basic knowledge in statics and mechanics of materials.
By completion of the course the student should be able to define and isolate a system for analysis - understand and apply the laws and methods of elementary mechanics.
Statics:
Definitions, concurrent forces - Plane force systems - Force moments, plane struct, trusses, frames, cables, friction, shear forces, bending moment.
Mechanics of materialsures:
Tension, compression and shear. Stesses and deformation in beams andaxially loaded members, pressure vessels
Lectures, independent studies, exercises
2/3 of handed in exercises in main disiplines (statics and mechanics of materials) must have been approved to sit for the exams.
3 written exams:
1. 2 hours in October
2. 2 hours in Februaru
3. 4 hours by the end of semester
Each Written exam is evaluated and given separate grade. Final grade is composed of:

3. 1/2
Written and printed literature may be used for exams
