Objectives

The purpose of the bachelor's programme is to educate user oriented and reflective candidates who are qualified to undertake special advising jobs within marketing, economic and administative topics in private business, organisations, and the public sector.

The programme focuses on cause and effect of decisions made in private and public organisations. The study gives the student business insight, analytic training, and problem awareness within social and ethical frameworks and knowledge for judging social economis consequences of his/her decisions.

The focus of the third year is international marketing and language. Many of the topics apply to business life in general, but commercial fishing industry is Norway's second most important export product.

The candidates will be qualified for continuing education at the Master degree level both in Norway and abroad.

Study structure

Teaching is done mainly through lecturing, group work, and (guided) exercises. The course also includes visits to local companies and guest lectures from local industry.

There are required submissions and case solutions, which may also be presented in the classroom.

Most topics will imply use of ICT tools.

Regular working patterns are expected each semester. Students need to observe the dates for required submissions and tests each semester.

Organization

The programme runs over three years, two semester each year.

1. The first year programme is identical with the programme in Business Management. The students receive a basic introduction to marketing, economics and organisational behavior, as well as method courses in mathematics and statistics.

2. The second year offers a choice of either language or economics business courses. Before deciding the individual student should carefully evaluate further career interests. Those who for example wish to pursue studies in economics/business administration need to take all the courses in economics/business administration offered. Students must by the 15 April in the first year of the programme choose which courses (i.e. language or economics/business administration) they will attend the second year.

Students who finish their studies after the second year receive the title : Degree candidate in Business Administration.

3. The third year is a specialisation in international marketing, market analysis, and a a second foreign language.

The students may choose to participate in an international exchange programme.
