Authors: Dyrud, Ingrid Flatland

I ni
(kW) i ulike områder. ENGLISH SUMMARY: In this master thesis groundwater surveys in an aquifer in Seljord, Telemark, Norway have
been done. The purpose of this work is to find the potential for utilization of ground heat from
the aquifer. Field surveys have been ground penetrating radar, drillings and sediment analysis.
Nine monitoring multilevel wells have been established and groundwater temperatures and
heads from 5, 10 and 20 meter depth have been recorded. Temperatures and water level from
surrounding rivers and lakes were also recorded.
To obtain this a sedimentological model and a 3D groundwater flow and heat flow model
have been made. The finite element model FEflow 5.3 was used. There is a good
correspondence between observed and simulated results. To evaluate the groundwater heat
potential, there are made maps of transmissivity and possible temperature lowering and
pumping capacity from depth of 15-20 meter, where the temperatures are stable at 7-9 °C.
The results show possibilities for huge pump capacities and optimal groundwater
temperatures for use of the groundwater heat. It is made a map that shows the potential of
ground heat in different areas.

Title: Cooperative learning at Telemark State University : the student's verdict

Authors: Clausen, Trond

Abstract: The Engineering College of Høgskolen i Telemark has practiced cooperative learning since 1982. As seen from
the college, this way of administering the students' work appears powerful. After briefly having described the "Telemark
Model", the paper concludes by reporting positive academic feedback from the U.S.A. in addition to present the students'
opinion about this way of conducting cooperative learning.
It has been found that students at large find project work in groups timeconsuming but rewarding. Their positive attitude towards
cooperative learnng becomes more clearly pronounced as they advance from freshmen to seniors and Graduates. The
latters, who are seing the whole proeess retrospectively, are reported to find the process of a 3-year's cooperative learning program
useful to their daily work.

Abstract: Ordinary microscopes can be adapted to fully automatic photomicroscopes for use with
flash. An automatic small film camera with an autodynamic flash and extra equipment for
microphotography is necessary. The camera's electronics determine the light intensity from
the flash.

Title: Recruiting engineering students from vocational school

Authors: Clausen, Trond; Hagen, Svein Thore; Hasleberg, Harald; Aarnes, Jens Harald

Abstract: By the consent of the Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research, Telemark University College (TUe),
Porsgrunn, Norway, this fall semester started a pilot class in electrical engineering recruiting solely from vocational schools.
Important changes in technology and society, including the educational system, began and nourished the work. The preparation
process formally commenced in August 1995 and has included educational, psychological, tactical and organisational means to attain
the goal. Results from tests given to 36 entering freshmen of this class are presented and discussed in the paper. Project organisation
and test results indicate that today's vocational schools may represent a future sector for the recruitment of new students into the
engineering profession.
