Work environment
In order to reach the paramount objectives at the University of Tromsø, it is important that the institution in widest sense of the word is a good work environment both for students and employees.
The University of Tromsø should be experienced as a place where it is pleasant to work. This implies making choices that add to a positive experience of:
- Freedom in the work situation
- Justice, predictability and social- and administrative equal treatment
- Solidarity and a sense of belonging to the community
- Possibilities for employee consultation
- Pride of social relations at the workplace
- Possibilities of development at work
- To work in a system which' physical and psychological environment is ensured
This means that the university has to set concrete goals to aim for when it comes to setting constraints for emplouees and students concerning both material conditions and organisational, psychological and social relations. In this context, continuous and active work with Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) with an emphasis on development and follow-up of the internal control system is important. It is emphasized that the university has a clear environmental policy regarding a reduction in use of resources and a reduction of physical contamination.
