RIMA Based Internet Routing

20.09.2002

Foredragsholdere
Pallapa Venkataram

Abstact:
With the increasing number of new applications, the demand for quality services are ever increasing. Current link state routing protocols (like OSPF) provide some primitive services by broadcasting the locally available resources. But the resources like Bandwidth and Delay are dynamic and hence routing protocols often suffer from stale information. Providing QoS routing are active study in the framework of Internet. We consider the problem of routing in Networks with uncertainties in the available resources and dynamic changes in the topology. We propose a novel approach of using Mobile Agents (MA) for routing. MAs are capable of moving between network nodes independently, executing a flexible code and carrying information with them.

The talk will focus on how Routing Intelligent MA (RIMA) can be used for QoS routing. This routing technique has two procedures: Static and Dynamic. In the case of static method optimal path is computed, which can be shortest or policy based routing like in BGP. In the case of dynamic routing, path is computed by RIMA by considering the current state of links and nodes of the network.
