Multimedia Database Systems

27.04.2000

Foredragsholdere
Vera H. Goebel

"Today, most applications comprise various multimedia data that require support by database systems. Traditional database systems do not provide appropriate concepts and mechanisms for the integrated modeling, management, and interactive presentation of multimedia data. In this lecture, we will identify the requirements a multimedia database systems should fulfill to support multimedia applications. We will look at possible architectures for multimedia database systems, and I will give an overview of the current development status for the different DBMS aspects needed to efficiently handle multimedia data."
