Tittel: "Distributed Systems: Search Engines"
Foredragsholder: Krister Mikalsen, Director Product Development, FAST Search & Transfer.
Abstrakt:
Search engines on the web, like AllTheWeb and Google, collect information about billion of documents on the World Wide Web and make them searchable for millions of users on a daily basis. Search engines on the web have changed the way many people navigate on the web, moving from a bookmark/portal “click-and-go” approach to a “search-and-go” approach. Search engines have also found their place in the industry as they enable customers to quickly find the product or services they are looking for.
This talk will focus on some of the challenges and experiences that have been made by creating a search engine. We will talk about how knowledge about distributed systems, operating systems, and algorithms has been applied when designing and implementing a general purpose search engine.
