Tittel: "Future directions in reflective middleware research"
Foredragsholder: Professor II Gordon Blair, Institutt for informatikk
Abstract:
This talk on Friday builds on a session today where I covered the basic principles of reflective middleware and also the core architecture designed at Lancaster. I therefore will assume some familiarity with this work but look at current research challenges in the area including i) the need to road test reflective middleware architectures in a variety of areas from sensor networks through to cluster computing, ii) the benefits to be gained by having open access to key underlying functionality such as routing through our concept of open overlays, and iii) the potential for such architectures to support autonomic computing. We have a portfolio of projectsat Lancaster addressing these concerns and I willl overview them and look in detail at two: ReMMoC (middleware support for mobile computing) and GridKIT (an open, extensible Grid middleware architecture). For people only free for part of the time, I will cover the motivation and ReMMoC in the first 45 mins and GridKIT in the second.
