Model Driven Architecture in HealthCare

16.03.2006

Foredragsholdere
Ståle Walderhaug

Tid: Torsdag 16. mars 2006, kl 13:15 16:00
Sted: Undervisningsrom II, Forskningsparken (grønnbygget) fløy B.

Tittel: "Model Driven Architecture in HealthCare"
Foredragsholder: Dr.grads student Ståle Walderhaug, SINTEF.

Forelseningen er en del av kurset INF-3793, Medisinsk informatikk 2, men åpent for andre.

Abstract:
Interoperability has become an important aspect of healthcare information systems. Interoperability can be defined as "the ability to share information and services across organizational and technological levels and platforms" and is important to optimize the care processes. Concepts such as "seamless care", "integrated care" and "continuity of care" are all founded on an interoperable information system infrastructure. The lecture will address interoperability from a model driven viewpoint and is divided into three parts:

  1. An introduction to Model Driven Architecture (MDA): What is it all about? Why should we bother? What is the state-of the art of MDA in healthcare?

  2. The MAFIIA framework: A framework for specifying the architectural description of an information integration system. The framework has been successfully applied in several research projects at SINTEF and are currently being used in a large EU project called Linkcare

  3. MDA in military healthcare: a presentation of my PhD project funded by the Norwegian Joint Medical Service

The lecture will be prepared for bidirectional communication and important issues concerning the design of healthcare information systems will be discussed. Questions and comments from the students are appreciated. After the lecture the students will hopefully have a clear understanding of how to systematically develop information systems to be used in healthcare using a model driven approach.
