OSI, SNA og DATEX. En analyse av modeller og tilpasning av en implementasjon
31.03.1982
Abstract:
Nils J. Villmones, “Open Systems Interconnection, Systems Network Architecture and DATEX: An analysis of models and adaption of an ! implementation”, a thesis submitted for the degree of cand.real. at University of Tromso, Department of science, 1982.
The thesis concerns the adaption of an X.21 circuit-switched network to IBM's Systems Network Architecture (SNA). The SNA-implementation in question is a banking-system known as NORBANK, but first is outlined a short, general description of usual aspects of dataprocessing in banking organizations.
The IS0 Open Systems Interconnection-model (OSI) is presented, and i thereafter SNA is discussed and compared against OSI to establish a framework for further reference.
The CCITT X.21-recommendation is presented in some detail with a suggested, simplified X.21 DTE-implementation.
The interactive NORBANK/SNA-applications are analyzed with the aim of network optimalization when the terms of X.21 tariff-structure are taken into account.
The main chapter (Ch. 5) describes the various efforts than can be done in different areas, such as selecting and adjusting SNA-protocols of the most high-frequenced applications to minimize the use of physical X.21-connections, but not degrading the end user-services. The use of several call control-strategies is investigated, and the effects of circuitswitching in common upon the SNA network structure and topologi are treated.
Finally, some remarks on further developement in the field of banking dataprocessing are included.
