Spatial Coordination of Sound and Window Location on Display Walls

Abstract
The current installation of the display wall at the University of Tromsø has provided us with new and interesting problems. One of the problems is how to use sound on the display wall. Collaboration between multiple persons on a single display makes it undesirable to use existing solutions designed for much smaller displays.

This thesis explores the possibilities of positioning the sound from a window in correspondence to the window's location on the display wall. In order to remain compatible with off-the-shelf applications, we want to do this in a non-intrusive matter.

The main results of this thesis is the discovery of many interesting problems that arises when we do this. In addition, a prototype has been implemented, and even though it was not completed, some interesting observations have been made.
