Abstract

In this thesis we outline, design, and implement the core functionality of the WAIF filter-server – enabling a flexible distributed data filtering model.

Our filter-server accept and operates filters upon requests from remote hosts. Once installed, filters are capable of receiving input from data producers, process it, and then deliver it to other hosts. While simple to specify and highly reusable, our filters are also powerful, allowing data to be, for instance, selected, transformed, generalized, and summarized.
