An Adaptive Infrastructure for Exchanging Calendar Information
24.11.2000
Abstract
We have studied mechanisms for performing operation on data in a distributed environment under varying bandwidth conditions. Traditional approaches put a lot of emphasis on caching operations, but do not differentiate between the operations being cached.
The nature of adaptation is a question of resource-management. If insufficient resources are available, it is important that any available resources are spent as wisely as possible.
We think that better resource management can be achieved by qualifying the data and associated operations, and executing them according to the resultant ranking. In order to examine this hypothesis, we have designed and implemented an infrastructure for a distributed calendar.
