Welcome to the Career Centre
Have you got general questions about applying for work? Do you need a summary of where to look for work? Do you need practical assistance with writing your job application and preparing your CV? Would it help to have someone to talk with about which occupations are suitable for you? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, then the Career Centre could be the right place for you.
The job market
Over the past few years, it has become increasingly more difficult for academics to find relevant work. This is particularly relevant for those who have not chosen a programme of professional study. Although it can be difficult to find a relevant job, it is not impossible. However, it does require some input from the job applicant.
The Career Centre was established in part to assist students into the work force. An important aspect of this is making students aware of their strengths and areas of expertise. We offer courses for job applicants, practical assistance with writing of job applications and preparation of CVs and through our career advisory service.
Career advice v student advice
The student chooses the theme for the meeting and leads the conversation. Unfortunately, it may not be possible to answer all your questions about working life, but we can certainly offer some ideas and advice. The Career Centre does not provide advice on subject and course selection. These types of questions are referred to student advisors.
The Career Centre
The Career Centre is located on the first floor of the university’s Central Administration Building, near the Akademisk Kvarter book shop. The Student Information office and the Advice and Information Division are also located here.
We have computers available to search for suitable jobs and to prepare job applications and CVs. A selection of newspapers, magazines and information from AETAT are also freely available.
