Studiner
A degree program, which may have several different lines of study, is a structured and coherent course of study built up of courses. A course is the smallest independent unit that can form part of a degree program (for example: KJE-3302 Organic Synthesis which forms part of the Masters program in Chemistry). Some courses are an obligatory part of the program to which they belong whilst there is a greater degree of choice with some of the other courses a student may wish to include in their degree. The credits (studiepoeng) is the unit used to define the standard length of time that a course is expected to take and the contribution to the student’s degree that it will make. One year’s fulltime study is defined as being equivalent to 60 credits. The educational year is divided into two semesters, each of which is defined as being equivalent to 30 credits. The grading scale has six grades with the pass-marks ranging from A (best) to E whilst the grade F indicates a fail. Certain individual exams are only graded as pass or fail.
