About SEMUT
Global environment and development is a big challenge also for the world's northenmost university. SEMUT was establish within Tromsø University in 1989 to follow up the report "Our common future" (1987) from the World Commision for environment and development. (Brundtlandkommisjonen).
SEMUT is a jointly initiativ from Tromsø University; and The NORUT group.
The Center should estimulate, iniciate and coordinate research and education in the field, and be a link between relevant national and international institutions and research programmes.
SEMUT works with actual global problems through the contact between universities and the research environment with enphasis on the third world.
