HIS-3003: Historical Theory

Work Load
10  credits (ECTS)
Contents
This subject aims to increase the means of reflecting on what influences historians in their choice of research issues, what sources they choose to work with and what forms the basis of interpreting research material. This involves investigating theories that form the basis of and influence the research process. Scientific theoretical and meta-theoretical basic assumptions are the themes of HIS-3001. Here it is the theoretical questions of a more limited nature that are the subject of discussion. These are concerned with questions that affect and problematize fundamental categories within the field of history, such as gender, class, nation and ethnicity. Central to this subject are discussions within this field concerning approaches to the study of politics, economics and culture, how these levels may be viewed in relation to one another and what is emphasized in this analysis.

Assessment
