SOS-3008: Codes and communication in Modern Society Work Load 5 credits (ECTS) | Objectives The course aims to give students knowledge of the social science debate regarding the problems of integration into modern society, and the ability of modern society to plan research projects concerned with such problems. | Contents The course takes up one of the most pressing problems in modern society, the question of how communication is possible across systems, fields, sectors, professions, perspectives and languages. The need for interaction and coordination across system boundaries reveals itself on the microplane in small groupus, in organisations and also at the level of society. The course applies a systems theory approach to the problem, but also draws in other theoretical perspectives to develop empirical projects about special forms of differentiation and integration in modern society. | Form of teaching Lectures and seminars. | Assessment Design a research project for a theoretical or an empirical investigation of the issue taken up by the course.
