STV-3023: Mass Politics in Europe: Parties and Party Systems Work Load

STV-3023 is an elective course for students studying in the Master''s program in political science, but can also be of interest to international exchange students. | Contents
This course provides a broad introduction to Stein Rokkan''s theories on state and nation building and the structure of mass politics in Europe. Additionally we explore the intermediate organizations facilitating the relationship between the state and its power and the citizens, in the form of parties and party systems. Special attention will be paid to trends of change in this respect. | Form of teaching

One take-home assignment and one written exam.
The exams consist of:
- One 6 hours written university-based exam
- One term paper (approx. 4000 words) on a theme of your choice.
Grades from A-E are passing grades, and F constitutes a fail. The course is open for re-sit examination early in the following semester. | Examination semester
