INF-3400: Compiler construction Work Load
10 credits (ECTS) | Contents
The course gives an insight in formal methods for the definition of programming languages and requirements to realise typical program-constructions. The lectures includes (1) main properties of compiled, interpreted and macro-generating languages, (2) context-free and regular grammars and their relation to automata, (3) The main components of compilers: lexical analysis, syntax analysis, symbol-tables, internal representation and virtual machines, code generation, optimisation and run-time system. | Form of teaching

The coursework includes up to 3 written assignments graded Pass/Fail. Oral presentation of the assignments and demonstration of a working system can be claimed. Approved assignments give access to the final written exam. | Assessment
