GEO-3106: Tectonics Work Load
10 credits (ECTS) | Contents
The course gives a thorough treatment of structures and geotectonic development/modeling of different geotectonic regimes, including extensional, contractional and strike-slip regimes. Advanced methods of analyzing regional fold mechanics, fold-fault kinematics and dynamics then follow. Other advanced topics include polyphase and progressive ductile deformation, kinematic indicators in ductile shear zones, relationships between mesoscale and macroscale structures, micro textural analysis and fabric changes due to cataclasis, mylonitization, recrystallization and metamorphism. A 5 days field course at the end of the semester is included, focusing on Precambrian, Caledonian and post-Caledonian tectonic features of central and western Troms. | Form of teaching

Exercises | Assessment
4 h written exam. Students will be evaluated through the practical exercises including journals. Admission for final examination requires approved journals and field report. Letter grade (A-F)
