BIO-3305: Toxicology Work Load
10 credits (ECTS) | Objectives
The course aims to give students the knowledge they will need to assess the consequences of exposure to toxic substances and to evaluate toxic effects. Students will also need to understand the rational underlying limit values and the standards regarding various types of exposure to toxic substances . The student will also learn about the challenges of environmental toxicology in Arctic areas. | Contents
The course will highlight how toxic substances are handled by the organism (kinetics) and also discuss their effects (dynamics). Exposure will be discussed and mechanisms of toxicity and toxic effects on organs will be described. The effects of environmental pollution in Arctic areas on people''s health will be emphasised. | Form of teaching
Lectures and a compulsory semester assignment that needs to be handed in and approved prior to the final exam. | Assessment
