SVF-3104: Project description for doing qualitative research with Camera Vekting

The subject forms part of the master in Visual cultural studies | Innhold
In this course are the students going to make an individual description and plan for the master project, including synopsis for the master film and draft for the written master essay. The course is discussing how to define a project, argue for its interest and how to operationalize research questions. The course will also clarify how the different elements in a project description are interlinked.
The students should be able to:
- Identify the main question of interest for the project
- Use knowledge of social scientific theory connected to the region and the chosen theme for the study
- Make a plan and prepare the student for the fieldwork.
In addition is a series of lectures called Visual Cultural Studies, given. It takes up the relationship between social science and visual work. All this is done to give the students the final preparation for their main fieldwork
Teaching: Teaching in this course is done through 6 lectures, and then a series of intensive seminars (aprox. 5 x 4 hours) where we are working with the students personal projects. | Vurdering

Exam: Project description must be approved of by individual supervisor not later than June 15th 2004.
