SAM-2010: Saami linguistic studies: Lule- and Southern Saami language in comparative perspective Work Load
10 credits (ECTS) | Objectives
The course will provide an introduction to South Sami and Lule Sami, and thus provide a broader understanding of the Sami languages in a wider perspective. This will provide knowledge upon which further study or research on a comparative aspect of the Sami languages can be based. | Contents
An introduction to the structure of Lule and South Sami as examples of Sami in a wider sense. Comparing these two languages and North Sami will be emphasised. | Form of teaching
Teaching will consist of lectures and exercises.
The literature will be in North Sami, Norwegian, and partly in English. | Assessment
Coursework Requirements:
The students are to submit two compulsory written assignments by given deadlines. These assignments must have been approved no later than two weeks before the final exam. This requirement is assessed with pass/ fail.
Assessment method:
The examination consists of a 6-hour written exam in Sami.
Performance in the course will be assessed with the grades A-F.
