HIF-3040: First Language Acquisition Work Load
10 credits (ECTS) | Objectives
Students should be able to show a thorough knowledge of the materials described in the course description. Students must also develop skills in oral presentation and argumentation, as well as the skills necessary for group work and individual project work. | Contents
Why don''t English three-year-olds have any problems with the 3rd person singular -s, (we drink/she drinks), while continuing to say comed and goed until they are almost 10? This course is an introduction to child language and first language acquisition, with an emphasis on English syntax and morphology. In addition, students are to work on a project on a limited topic in first language acquisition.

The course requires a bachelor''s degree in linguistics or equivalent.
A good command of oral and written English is also required. | Form of teaching
Lectures, exercises, seminars, project work. Teaching period approximately 10 weeks, individual/project work 7 weeks. A total of 39 hours of teaching.
| Assessment
Coursework Requirements:
One oral presentation approximately halfway through the semester.
Assessment method:
Paper (30%) approximately halfway through the semester, and one more comprehensive project paper, approximately 15 pages (70%).
Grading: Performance in the course will be assessed with the grades A-F.
