FIN-1110: Finnish Literature Work Load
10 credits (ECTS) | Objectives
The course gives students knowledge of Finnish cultural history and literature. Students will learn to read literary texts in the relevant cultural context. The course increases students'' understanding of Nordic and European cultural trends. | Contents
The course provides fundamental knowledge about Finnish literary history and central authors. The literature is studied in its social and cultural-historical context.
Required previous qualifications/ courses: General entrance requirement.
Recommended previous qualifications/ courses: FIN-1210
Readings are in Finnish and Scandinavian languages. | Form of teaching
The course is given in the autumn semester
Instruction consists of 48 hours of lectures and 18 hours of seminar and group work.

Coursework Requirements:
Students must write an individual paper or group paper of 8 to 15 pages which must be approved before they can take the exam. Papers are graded pass/no pass.
Assessment method:
The exam is a 6-hour school exam at the end of the semester.
