JUR-3650: Urfolksrett Indigenous Studies Vekting

The course intends to give the students an overview over the current discussion on indigenous peoples'' rights, cover subjects from international law, domestic law specially in Saami areas and indigenous peoples law, focusing on indigenous peoples'' right to self-determination and land rights.The point of departure of the course is that the rights of indigenous peoples depend both on legal principles and rules within international and domestic law, and also on indigenous peoples''own law. | Innhold
In addition to giving and overview of different structures and legal principles of significance for the rights of indigenous peoples within international law, some different perspectives will be emphasised during the course. Within domestic law, focus will be on the Saami peoples'' rights in Norway, Sweden and Finland, with an emphasise on the right to self-determination and land rights, including recognition of the Saami peoples'' own legal system within domestic law. The content of the course will partly be covered by the curriculum, partly be teaching. | Undervisning
Undervsiningen vil bli gitt i form av forelesninger og/eller seminarer. Undervisningen skal gi studentene en oversikt og utdypning av sentrale tema. Det foreventes av studentene at de tar et stort ansvar for egen læring.
| Vurdering
Eksamen består av en skriftlig og en muntlig del. Den skriftlige delen gis i form av en hjemmeoppgave over 5 virkedager. Dersom denne oppgaven er bestått holdes en muntlig prøve. | Eksamenssemester
